Our client, Mount Carmel Health System (MCHS) in Columbus, Ohio is seeking an Academic Dean for Mount Carmel College of Nursing (MCCN).  This exciting opportunity will report to the President of Mount Carmel College of Nursing and will be a highly visible leader at the college, in the community and play a significant role in shaping the future for Mount Carmel College of Nursing.

In accordance with the Mission and Guiding Behaviors; the Academic Dean has primary responsibility for the overall leadership of the academic, student academic support, student affairs programs, including monitoring the quality of instruction, enhancing current programs, and developing new initiatives for academic programming as appropriate to current trends in higher education.

The Dean collaborates with all other areas of the College and Mount Carmel organization to further the mission of the College and Mount Carmel Health System. The Dean is responsible for making recommendations to the President concerning faculty appointments, applications for advancement in rank and/or tenure, and salary increments.  The Academic Dean monitors the effectiveness of academic and student-focused programs, and is responsible for the professional development of the faculty and staff who teach and provide student activities.

Our client is seeking a candidate with extensive experience of being an agent of positive change management, curriculum development with online and traditional modalities, enrollment growth and creating a culture of excellence, diversity and best practices in Nursing Education.


MCCN is seeking candidates with the following experience and education:

  • Doctorate in Nursing or related discipline with Master’s Degree in Nursing
  • Current RN Licensure in Ohio *offer can be made contingent upon acquiring this
  • Demonstrated academic leadership experience; teaching experience in undergraduate/ graduate nursing programs – Must Qualify for Faculty Appointment
  • Effective Communication Skills
  • Visionary goal setter with ability to set and communicate clear goals for academic and student affairs program
  • Provide mentorship for Associate Deans
  • Recognized leader in scholarly activity & Active in professional and Higher Education organizations
