LARGE MULTI-SPECIALTY PROVIDER GROUP

CENTRAL UNITED STATES

HARTZ Search invites you to explore an exciting new opportunity with our client, a confidential large multi-specialty physician group for a Chief Operating Officer.   The Chief Operating Officer of the Large Multi-Specialty Physician Group has accountability for the operational function and effectiveness for the physician-led group serving a large Medical Center and one of the fastest growing communities in the US. The position is directly responsible to the President and CEO. The COO has ultimate responsibility and authority to provide leadership, direction, and administration of all of the operational aspects of the organization and the activities of its related entities to ensure compliance with established goals and objectives and the realization of quality, value-focused health care services, and other related lines of business, while meeting the directives established by the organization’s mission, vision and values statements. The COO directly supervises a growing team of organizational leaders consisting of directors, managers, supervisors, leads and support staff, with oversight for all operational units throughout the Group.

The Chief Operating Officer is a patient-focused individual working to help us continue to drive “groupness” and “systemness” forward. This individual identifies data and relevant new information to help the group continue its transformation with broader organizational knowledge and learning. The COO is action-oriented and works to translate broad goals into achievable steps and results. The COO anticipates and solves problems and takes advantage of opportunities, is a self-starter and team player.

 

Achieving the vision. Through a strong partnership with the Health System and the providers, create a patient-focused delivery model that provides leading-edge patient care, research, and teaching with a unique, highly recognized and respected identity in the competitive marketplace and beyond.

The Medical Group is a multi-specialty provider group with over 500 providers, partnered with a leading Academic Medical Center in one of the most competitive markets in the US.

 

POSITION DETAILS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • The position reports to the President of Large Physician Group
  • 6 Direct Reports, 20 FTE’s and a collaborative relationship with Finance leadership, through a matrixed structure
  • Required: 7-10 years of healthcare operations with physician group practice experience, and experience with an integrated delivery system
  • Required:
    • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Preferred:
    • Master’s Degree (its’ equivalent or higher) preferred; CPA and/or MD and/or JD and healthcare industry credentials
    • FACMPE preferred
  • As Chief Operating Officer, this individual demonstrates critical competencies in several areas including: commitment to results-clinical, operational, and financial, leading change and motivating others.
  • Previous operational leadership experience with a demonstrated, successful record of accomplishment
  • The COO must be facile with and comfortable in messaging formal, persuasive presentations to groups and to deal effectively with people from all segments of the local community and region.
  • The COO must be comfortable with diversity and help the Medical Group continue to create a community of belonging, equity, and excellence.
  • Promotes programs and services that are patient centric and delivered in a value-based and market competitive manner, simultaneously employing economy while maintaining the highest level of quality care.
