HARTZ Search is excited to announce a new engagement with our client partner, City of Hope, Cancer Center & Cancer Research Center in Southern California for an Executive Director, Infrastructure – Facilities Management. City of Hope is a private, not-for-profit clinical research center, hospital and graduate medical school located in Duarte, California, United States. City of Hope is best known as a cancer treatment center. It has been designated a Comprehensive Cancer Center by the National Cancer Institute and has been ranked one of the nation's Best Cancer Hospitals by U.S. News & World Report for over ten years and is a founding member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network.
The Executive Director of Infrastructure (Facilities) is responsible for leading the long-term strategy, planning, design, construction and commissioning of the City of Hope enterprise infrastructure including energy procurement and generation strategies, sustainability efforts, central utilities plants, distributed utility systems, traffic and parking studies with mitigation, roadway expansions and changes, pedestrian access, and other infrastructure elements as required. Additionally, the Executive Director will have oversight over Clinical Engineering and Facilities Management Operations and partners with the Executive Director of Support Services to ensure operational efficiencies, maintainability, and system standards are fully implemented in all infrastructure projects. The Executive Director will also coordinate closely with IT Services to ensure infrastructure planning supports existing and future ITS requirements.
Given the high complexity and large scope of City of Hope’s planned expansion through 2030 throughout the enterprise , the Executive Director of Infrastructure will serve as the ‘bridge’ and focused leader-expert to ensure that common standards are developed, implemented, and sustained over the life-cycle of these critical systems and that the individual project loads on utilities, roads, physical plant infrastructure, etc. align with overall energy strategies, regulatory agency requirements, cost reduction goals, established standards and the ability for operations to continue with the least amount of disruption. The Executive Director candidate will also provide strategic direction for all major facility infrastructure functionality and direct day-to-day operations to ensure long term durability of the City of Hope facilities. Our client is seeking a dynamic, results-oriented leader with excellent communication skills and transformational, servant leadership style.
- Reports directly to the Vice President – Supply Chain, Facilities & Construction Management
- 10-12 Direct Reports
- Minimum Education Required: Bachelor’s degree in Civile, Mechanical, Electrical or related area of engineering – Master’s degree in Engineering Field, Preferred
- Required Certification/ Licensure: Licensed Engineer
- Minimum Experience: 10 years’ experience in healthcare, higher education or related field
- Preferred executive experience in managing large scale Central Utilities, physical plant and infrastructure development programs. Development of energy procurement strategies, conservation plans, and other elements related to infrastructure. Demonstrated knowledge of emerging technologies and strategies related to infrastructure. Experience in a healthcare setting, particularly with TJC and CAP and accreditation requirements
