- Led or sponsored multiple system quality initiatives at the local hospital level; decreased Hospital Acquired Infections by 41% and Serious Safety Events by >50% within 12 months.
- Replaced ineffective length of stay (LOS) program with one based on structured, multidisciplinary rounds; tracking reasons for avoidable days and LOS by provider and DRG; weekly outlier meetings; and dedicated strategy for observation patients.
- Within 4 months decreased LOS by 0.5 days; Obs rate from 26% to 24% and Obs Hours by one day.
- Served as a system resource for Peer Review’s transition to a multidisciplinary model that decreased physician case reviews >40% within the first 9 months of start-up.
- Performed safety and quality audits identifying and then facilitating closure of >70 open peer review files and >50 unresolved event reports.
- Partnered with the quality, risk management, and medical staff leadership for a fast-track preparation for the Joint Commission Survey; result: organization passed the survey.
