Bill’s selection marks an exciting new chapter for both him and Geisinger, and we look forward to the positive impact of his leadership.

After a comprehensive search process, Geisinger has named Bill Bellando as Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer. In this critical role, Bill will lead, plan, implement, and maintain the organization’s information technology systems in support of Geisinger’s clinical enterprise, health plan, academic programs, and system affiliates. As CIO, he will champion process improvement and lean methodologies to execute strategic plans and achieve the organization’s goals.

Bill Bellando is widely recognized as a transformational leader in the healthcare information technology sector. He brings extensive experience in healthcare IT, data and analytics, and digital health innovation. Throughout his career, Bill has demonstrated a strong ability to lead large-scale technology optimization initiatives. He is known for building effective partnerships with both operational and clinical leaders, allowing for collaborative improvements in organizational processes. His leadership has consistently driven enhancements in quality, efficiency, and the overall experiences of patients and members through technology-driven solutions.

Bill Bellando joins Geisinger from Wellstar, where he has held a series of progressive leadership positions since 2021. His roles included serving as Chief Technology Officer and, most recently, as Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer. Prior to his tenure at Wellstar, Bill held senior leadership roles at Sutter Health and Kaiser Permanente in California. During his time at Wellstar, he played a pivotal role in modernizing the organization’s IT systems and advancing its merger and acquisition strategies. Bill holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Louisiana Tech University.
